Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) is a statutory body that advises the Government of Pakistan on all water resources issues, with a focus on irrigation, drainage and flood control. The council is responsible for the formulation and implementation of research programmes in these areas. 

The PCRWR has its headquarters in Lahore and regional offices in Islamabad, Karachi and Peshawar. 

The main functions of the PCRWR are: 

1) To formulate policies, guidelines and principles for optimum utilization of water resources taking into account ecological as well as socio-economic considerations; 

2) To conduct research on different aspects of water resources with particular emphasis on irrigation, drainage and flood control; 

3) To provide scientific and technical advice to the government on various water resources issues; 

4) To promote co-ordination among different agencies working on water resources projects; 

5) To initiate, promote and coordinate training programmes for capacity building in water resources sector; 6) To undertake any other activity which may be conducive to achievement of the objectives of the council.
