China’s Ongoing Investment in Pakistan will Create New Opportunities

The government has been keen on providing investors with a friendly atmosphere so that more and more investors start investing in the country. In the previous years, investment has been an issue because most of the investors didn’t feel comfortable in investing their money in the country due to the law and order situation and also the lacking interest of the government in providing investors with the protection of their money and property.

Recently, the new government has shown great interest in increasing International exports and also creating a business-friendly environment. Many initiatives have been taken in this regard like the new taxation policy, the low prices of electricity and gas for the industrial area to expand the exports with increased production. This has certainly added to the revival of many of the businesses and local industries that previously chose to shut down due to the shortage of electricity and raising prices which were resulting in less production and more cost.

China has been a friend in many sectors and is working on one of the most important and fate changing project in the region with Pakistan. CPEC is seen to change the dynamic of the region altogether and how trade has been done will change. Now, China has shown its interest in the textile industry of Pakistan. China will invest in establishing a unit of its famous ‘The challenge apparels’ company. Challenge apparels are the most famous and biggest exporter to the world’s best and most recognized brands. With this move, China is helping Pakistan in the most common industry which is the textile industry in the country. Our cotton export is more than another and China will definitely introduce new techniques to increase production in less time and how to make a product at a cheaper rate.

All of this has been discussed by the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan recently in a meeting with the advisor to Prime Minister on commerce, Textile, Industries & Production, and Investment, Abdul Razak Dawood in a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing. Dawood welcomed the gesture made by the Chinese ambassador and assured him of the governments support in the process of setting up an outlet in Lahore. The company plans to start from Lahore and their outlet will bring about almost thousands of new jobs for the unemployed people in the country.

This also paves the way for other International investment as one world’s most rapidly growing economy is investing in the country and is satisfied with the provided environment and policies then others will also follow the lead. The government should now work on to transform the promised change in policies to facilitate business at the local level too so the local owner shouldn’t feel left out or threatened. The competition should be one which can generate some fruitful outcomes with the creation of jobs and other opportunities to learn and grow.
