Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB), Pakistan's leading public sector utility, serves the people of Karachi metropolitan area, and is responsible for ensuring clean, safe drinking water and sewerage services to the general public. The organization is implementing an ambitious plan of institutional reforms aimed at making it an operationally efficient, service-oriented and financially viable entity. In order to achieve this ambitious turnaround, the Board of KW&SB is seeking the services of dynamic and committed individuals to lead the organization.

The Board is looking for high caliber professionals with a record of successfully leading public or private sector organization(s). The candidates should have a history of significant achievements that contributed to the growth, profitability or reputation of the organization. Prior experience of institutional transformation and change management would be an added advantage.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

JOB PROFILE

  • The CEO shall be the head of the utility and will be responsible to the Board for providing strategic, innovative and visionary leadership to ensure efficient services to the citizens in accordance with the policies/plans approved by the Board and statutory requirements.
  • The CEO shall devise, implement and monitor results for the strategic and operational business plan of the utility, and shall work collaboratively with the Board and stakeholders to improve the distribution systems, modernize commercial and financial operations, develop human capital and strengthen organizational capacity to achieve strategic objectives. The CEO shall lead the reform process and its associated managers to implement the turnaround of the utility.
  • The job demands maturity, intellect, and business proficiency and people skills as it entails managing relationships with multiple stakeholders, providing strategic direction to senior management of the utility and ensuring a high degree of financial discipline.

QUALIFICATION
The suitable candidate should have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical); OR
  • Master's Degree (Business/Management/Finance/Commerce) from a university/institution recognized by Higher Education Commission (HEC) or well reputed international university; OR
  • Fellow Member of a recognized body of Professional Accountants (ICAP/ICMAP and others). EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 20 years' experience in large public or national/multinational organizations out of which 5 years' should be in a similar role of senior management position.
  • Working experience of managing a large scale utility will be an added advantage. AGE

The age of candidate should not be more than 62 years as on the last date of application. TENURE
This is a contractual position for a period of 4 years, extendable on mutually agreed term.

 

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

JOB PROFILE

  • The COO, reporting to the CEO, shall be responsible for overseeing the technical operations of the utility, which entails ensuring the smooth distribution of water supply and sewerage services to the city.
  • The key job responsibilities shall include but not limited to the planning, maintenance and development of the related infrastructure and driving sustainable growth while focusing on business process optimization and efficiency, as part of a phased reform agenda.
  • The job demands excellent problem solving, people management and stakeholder management skills as well as a deep understanding of operational systems and requirements.

QUALIFICATION
The suitable candidate should have:

  • A Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical) registered with Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC);
  • Master's Degree in Engineering would be preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 20 years' experience in large public or private sector organizations out of which 05 years' should be in senior management roles/Head of operations in any public sector, national or multinational organization.
  • Experience in providing civic or utility services to the public will be given preference. AGE

The age of candidate should not be more than 62 years as on the last date of application. TENURE
This is a contractual position for a period of 3 years, extendable on mutually agreed term.
